visalo

Hello, I am Miranta the person behind Visalo, here is some informations about me ,my work and space.

After completing my studies in interior design in Athens, I returned to my village Askifou,( a mountain village near Chania). There, I transformed an old building into my dream space,Visalo, a ceramic studio and café. The name Visalo, meaning ‘a piece of a broken ceramic object,’ perfectly encapsulates the essence of this creative sanctuary. I envisioned Visalo as a place where creativity flourishes and visitors feel welcome and inspired by the experience of handmade artistry while enjoying a cup of coffee. At Visalo, almost everything you see and taste is handcrafted. From the ceramic tableware to the lemonade, bread, dairy products, and honey, each item is a testament to my family’s dedication to quality and tradition. Visitors can savor their coffee and traditional sfakian pie while taking in the stunning mountain views and witnessing the fascinating process of ceramic creation.

The ceramics I make are made one by one on the wheel or by hand and painted with free hand that makes them unique. I get inspired by the beauty of simple life of the villagers, the mountains the clouds and animals.

Visalo also offers workshops, allowing guests to immerse themselves in the art of ceramics(if you want to participate contact via +30 6972589254) Visalo also provides other creative pursuits like natural dyeing, sewing etc.
